Built into the land

Our architecture is inspired by the Cycladic cave house (yposkafa), built into the hillside rather than on top of it. This subterranean approach keeps interiors naturally cool in summer and warm in winter, dramatically reducing energy use — while blending seamlessly with the landscape.

Green roofs, living systems

Our planted roofs aren’t just beautiful — they lower energy consumption, absorb rainwater, improve air quality, extend roof lifespan, and support local biodiversity. Nature gives back, when we let her in.

Crafted by local hands

From the stones that shaped our walls to the wooden tables, wooden frames, kitchens, beds, closets and sunbeds, Ivy’s was built by local people. Every detail tells a story of craftsmanship, care, and connection to the island.

A thoughtful approach to food

We grow what we can, source what we can’t from nearby, and serve everything with love. Eating locally and seasonally not only supports Tinos’ small producers — it connects us more deeply to the land and its rhythms.

Energy awareness

From energy-efficient appliances and LED lighting to natural cooling systems, we’ve made thoughtful decisions to reduce our footprint without compromising comfort.

Plastic-free as possible

Wherever we can, we eliminate single-use plastics. Water comes in glass or paper bottles. Cleaning products are biodegradable. Every small change matters.

Reduce, reuse, recycle — and compost

We separate waste, compost organic matter for our gardens, and invite our guests to recycle with us. Sustainability, after all, is a shared journey.
